Ashley Sykora is an Associate in the Los Angeles office of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore where she advises clients on labor and employment law matters. She is skilled at drafting varied legal documents, including motions in limine, briefs, declarations, and research memoranda.

Prior to her time at LCW, Ashley was a law clerk at the California Office of the Attorney General in the Land Law Section where she provided her expertise on land use issues, including coastal development, public use of easements, and California Environmental Quality Act compliance. During law school, she was the Co-Executive Director of the El Centro Legal Clinics at UCLA and the First-Generation Law Students Association Co-Vice President. She also externed with the Natural Resources Defense Council in their environmental justice division and was awarded the Clinical Legal Education Association’s Outstanding Clinic Team Award for her environmental justice work completed as part of UCLA’s Environmental Law Clinic.

Ashley is a seasoned traveler and has been to five continents, seventeen countries, and twenty-two states. During one of her trips abroad, she went scuba diving, bungee jumping, and sky diving on back to back days.

Sergeant v. City (2022) – Won arbitration in which Sergeant claimed back pay after his termination for several violations of the Police Department Manual relating to a single vehicle collision involving a high-ranking City official.

Peace Officer Termination Appeal (2022) –Defeated a police corporal’s appeal of his termination from employment.  The male corporal had a long-term, off-duty affair with a female corporal.  He was terminated due to threats of violence and harassment toward the female corporal and a deputy.  The male corporal alleged his termination was disparate treatment because the female corporal was not also disciplined.  The hearing officer found that there was no evidence of disparate treatment, and that even if there was, the threats were properly punishable by termination of employment.
